Butterfield Garage Exhibition Sept.02,2011

The dynamic duo of Kathryn Carlyle and Cheryl Gibbs were on hand last Friday night, September 02, 2011 to open their collaborative exhibit of unique “Wearable Art Jewelry” and coordinated wall paintings at the very popular Butterfield Garage Art Gallery in St. Augustine,Florida.

The opening night event was well received and widely attended by art critics, patrons and local media alike.  The artists were both on hand to openly discuss their artistic philosophies that define, yet not constrain their sometimes different approaches to creating a visual and sensual tactile journey of color, touch and emotions.

During the opening, patrons were delightfully treated to a tangible, yet ethereal and philosophical journey.  The artists and Gallery so proficiently planned the exhibition to evoke and communicate the Zen balance evident in their collective works.  Carlyle Gibbs subtly applied a uniform mix of their talents to create an “out of box” approach towards their art which structure the world as they so passionately perceive.

Always noted for their artistic pallets, the artists painstakingly plan, coordinate and balance a varied cornucopia of colors; that are bold, yet deceivingly delicate.  The observer should not be fooled by the sometimes whimsical persona purveyed by the artists.   Both Carlyle and Gibbs non-uniformly couple their pallets, with the tangible sensation of touch.  The viewer (and in the instance of jewelry) the wearer, is forevermore inspired to relate to, and participate along with the artists’ on their journey of harmony through nature.

Carlyle Gibbs’ work can also be viewed on their web site, www.carlylegibbs.com, or by personally visiting them, at The Arts Arena Gallery inDelray Beach,Florida where they have been artists in residence since is founding in 2006.

The current Butterfield exhibition continues through the end of September 2011.  In the upcoming months, the artists are again planning additional St. Augustineand Daytona Beach, Floridaarea art exhibitions.  Their complete exhibition schedule is regularly updated and posted to their blog, www.CarlyleGibbs.wordpress.com.
