Carlyle Gibbs Butterfield Garage Exhibition
September 7, 2011
The dynamic duo of Kathryn Carlyle and Cheryl Gibbs were on hand last Friday night, September 02, 2011 to open their collaborative exhibit of unique “Wearable Art Jewelry” and coordinated wall paintings at the very popular Butterfield Garage Art Gallery in St. Augustine,Florida.
The opening night event was well received and widely attended by art critics, patrons and local media alike. The artists were both on hand to openly discuss their artistic philosophies that define, yet not constrain their sometimes different approaches to creating a visual and sensual tactile journey of color, touch and emotions.
During the opening, patrons were delightfully treated to a tangible, yet ethereal and philosophical journey. The artists and Gallery so proficiently planned the exhibition to evoke and communicate the Zen balance evident in their collective works. Carlyle Gibbs subtly applied a uniform mix of their talents to create an “out of box” approach towards their art which structure the world as they so passionately perceive.
Always noted for their artistic pallets, the artists painstakingly plan, coordinate and balance a varied cornucopia of colors; that are bold, yet deceivingly delicate. The observer should not be fooled by the sometimes whimsical persona purveyed by the artists. Both Carlyle and Gibbs non-uniformly couple their pallets, with the tangible sensation of touch. The viewer (and in the instance of jewelry) the wearer, is forevermore inspired to relate to, and participate along with the artists’ on their journey of harmony through nature.
Carlyle Gibbs’ work can also be viewed on their web site, www.carlylegibbs.com, or by personally visiting them, at The Arts Arena Gallery inDelray Beach,Florida where they have been artists in residence since is founding in 2006.
The current Butterfield exhibition continues through the end of September 2011. In the upcoming months, the artists are again planning additional St. Augustineand Daytona Beach, Floridaarea art exhibitions. Their complete exhibition schedule is regularly updated and posted to their blog, www.CarlyleGibbs.wordpress.com.

Nationally Acclaimed Artists Kathryn Carlyle and Cheryl Gibbs To Open at The Butterfield Garage Art Gallery:
The nationally acclaimed artists, Kathryn Carlyle and Cheryl Gibbs will be available to meet patrons of the Butterfield Garage Art Gallery in St. Augustine, Florida during it’s monthly “First Friday” gallery night opening on Friday, September 02, 2011. The Carlyle Gibbs Exhibition will continue through Friday, Sept. 30. The opening exhibition hours are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The dynamic pair of Carlyle and Gibbs creates one-of-a-kind gold & silver jewelry designs. In addition to their acclaimed jewelry, they are also showcasing their unique paintings and one of a kind wall art. Many of their creations can be seen on their web site at http://www.CarlyleGibbs.com.
Through their collaboration, the artists practice in very different and diverse media — metal fabrication, painting and collage. Their individual creations and input mirror a shared inspiration of natural elements, metaphysical wonder and universal awareness.
Both Kathryn and Cheryl utilize their skills and creativity to meld the use of woven wire and metallic fabrics to create and texture a delicate arrangement of natural stones. It is their unique approach of integrating gold and silver wire along with precious and semi precious stones that has captured an international audience. Their collaboration, along with highly developed and transcendent methods of metal fabrication, succeeds in creating a harmonious and spiritual journey for the client. Through the integration of natural elements, along with a corresponding implementation of varying light and luminescence, each unique piece conveys a significant story, which their work ultimately ascends and represents.
Their latest exhibition will offer patrons the chance to interact with each of the artists. Carlyle and Gibbs will speak about their driving inspirations, motivations, challenges and artistic techniques behind their personal creations. Each artist will elaborate upon their work and answer questions.
Having successfully introduced this dynamic of direct dialogue between the artist and attendees as the founding philosophy of “First Friday” exhibitions, the Butterfield Garage is now among one of the most recognized and accredited art galleries in Florida.
The Butterfield Garage Art Gallery is located at 137 King St., open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
